News and Updates

The scope of eligibility for implant coordinator certification has been expanded beginning with the upcoming certification examination. Dental technicians, dental assistants and other dental support staff are now eligible to apply in addition to dental hygienists.

ISOI Certification

The International Society of Oral Implantology and the DGZI Japan Section has a certification system in place for their members in order to provide appropriate dental care and treatment to the Japanese people through the maintenance of high standards and the promotion of further development of oral implantology.

Members satisfying the requirements specified for each of the following certifications will receive the corresponding certificate upon successful completion of the relevant certification examination.

For Dentists

Authority of Implantology
  • Is a licensed dentist
  • Has attended four educational lectures
  • Has Clinical Oral Implantology certification
  • Is able to submit pantomographs, which include the temporomandibular joints, for 50 implant cases taken three years before and after the procedure as well as post-procedure intraoral photographs for ten of the 50 cases
Clinical Oral Implantology
  • Is a licensed dentist
  • Has attended an educational lecture
  • Is able to submit pantomographs, which include the temporomandibular joints, for 20 implant cases taken three years before and after the procedure

For Dental Hygienists

Implant Special Dental Hygienist
  • Is a licensed dental hygienist
  • Has attended an educational lecture
  • Has ISOI Implant Coordinator certification
  • Has at least three years of practical experience in oral implants
  • Is able to present five cases of implant maintenance
Implant Coordinator
  • Is a dental hygienist, dental technician, dental assistant or any other dental support staff
  • Is an ISOI member
  • Has attended an educational lecture
  • Has at least two years (dental hygienists and dental technicians) or three years (dental assistants and other dental support staff) of practical experience in oral implants

For Dental Technicians

Implant Special Dental Hygienist
  • Is a licensed dental technician
  • Has attended an educational lecture
  • Has at least three years of experience with implants
  • Is able to present 20 examples of upper implant structures crafted
