With the aim of contributing to the development of dentistry, the International Society of Oral Implantology brings together renowned doctors, dentists, and other healthcare professionals dedicated to excellence in the field.
The ISOI was established as the Japan section of the Deutschen Gesellschaft für Zahnärztliche Implantologie (DGZI; German Society for Dental Implantology), the largest and oldest implantology society in Europe. Based in Germany,
the DGZI has 4,000 members in Japan and more than 12,000 members worldwide. The “Oral Implantology Specialist” and “Expert Implantology” certifications that can be obtained at the DGZI headquarters in Germany
are highly prestigious titles that grant implant specialists a great degree of trust and social value.
In recent years there has been an increase in the number of patients seeking dental implants, and this has given rise to an
increase in the number of dentists learning implantology. The constant improvement of techniques and the dissemination of various information since the clinical advent of dental implants have led to a situation in which there is much
confusion with regard to knowledge and techniques in the field.
We clinicians must always put the interests and safety of patients who receive these implants first and foremost. With this in mind, the International Society of Oral
Implantology provides an environment in which we can play a role in improving the knowledge of our members and aims to make a major contribution to the development of dentistry. The DGZI headquarters in Germany, the International Society
of Oral Implantology, and the DGZI Japan section has established certifications that aim to provide patients with suitable care by endeavoring to maintain and improve the high standards of implantology.
